Plumbers & Pipefitters UA Local 160 has a long and proud history of serving the residential and industrial needs of Southern Illinois since 1928. Through our signatory contractors, we have been serving homeowners, schools, hospitals, businesses, manufacturing plants, and power plants. We are a multi-craft union, and we represent our membership in the Plumbing, Pipefitting, Refrigeration, Controls, and Air Conditioning industries. Our area offers educational opportunities at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois. We have riverboat gambling in Metropolis, Illinois, and we have several lakes and parks for recreation. Our jurisdiction reaches the southern-most part of the state and covers the counties of Randolph, Perry, Jackson, Union, Alexander, Johnson, Pulaski, Pope, Massac, and Hardin.

- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of indenture.
- Must be a High School graduate or have received a (GED) and provide a transcript or (GED) Certificate,
- Birth Certificate, Social Security Card and DD214 form if a Veteran
- Must be physically able to do the work of the trade.
- Must pass a written test and oral interview.
Valid Illinois Driver’s License
- Must live in one of the following Illinois counties: Alexander, Pulaski, Massac, Pope, Hardin, Johnson, Union, Jackson, Perry, Randolph
- Submit to and pass drug screening test if accepted.
- Pay a non-refundable $25.00 cash application and processing fee.
- Applicants are selected for training on a non-discriminatory basis.
